Model Entrepreneurship Curriculum

What body of knowledge do your students need to know to successfully launch and run a business? What skills must be taught? What entrepreneurial attitudes nurtured? In other words - what should be included in an effective entrepreneurship/small business curriculum?

This interactive session is designed to help both those who already have an entrepreneurship or small business -- whether offered as a major/minor, certificate, or degree – or those who are thinking of launching such a program. You’ll gain a better grasp of what courses and topics should be included in an entrepreneurship or small business curriculum and share your own learning experience. We’ll also discuss the growing practice of developing state-wide or region-wide standard entrepreneurship curricula.

Bryan Murry and The Planning Shop have been coordinating a wide-spread effort to create a model entrepreneurship and small business curriculum. In this session, they will share the results of their research to date. They’ve examined hundreds of small business curricula and course syllabi, interviewed dozens of entrepreneurship/small business professors, called on experienced and successful entrepreneurs and investors to pull together a model curriculum based on realworld >needs to give students a knowledge base and skill set to launch a business venture and insure its viability.
