Just yesterday, MCC brought out its inaugural Entrepreneur Champions Across The Curriculum program to a close by bringing together its 21 faculty graduates with their local entrepreneurs. And - 13 of the local entrepreneurs with their busy schedules could actually attend! Additionally, each of the Program Dean's were invited, Foundation and grant's staff (always keep them happy :) as well as two of our matching grant donors.
The program kicked off with MCC's Executive VP welcoming 50 attendees and talking about the Coleman Foundation enabling through this very first every grant received for the MCC for the topic of "Entrepreneurship", this program to be created. The heart of our time was spent with 5 faculty showcasing their curriculum developed (and most already implemented/started, so they could tell for "real" about student reactions which added to the end value of this program). It was an awesome experience to see their work! But what was an even better observation was the obvious disappointment of the other participants....everyone wanted to showcase their curriculum to their Deans, their entrepreneurs and the donors....but we just didn't have time. So - I might have to put my creative hat on and try to give my "light" to everyone and not have any hard feelings.....It's a good, bad to deal with that everyone was so excited.
The attendees "graduated" receiving certificates from our EVP and the Dean of Business. Please see picture attached - don't we make a fun group!
but if you thought the day was over....you're wrong.
We asked (ahead of time) for any local entrepreneur that was in attendance to spend an additional 45 minutes with us to participate in a focus group (Advisory board equivalent) session to give us feedback and advise for future strategic planning. Eight entrepreneurs stayed. Their insight and information shared reinforced many thoughts that we have had AND introduced new. This is only the second time that we have done something like this; so it was certainly time with our program just finishing up its 6th year.
Attached are things to help those that might be following along to look to implement something like this such as:
1. Luncheon Invite sent to a) Entrepreneurs for Lunch and Focus Group b) Deans and c) Donors
2. Luncheon Agenda
3. Focus Group Handout
and....a few pictures for you to "see" the celebration - ENJOY!
