Greetings fellow NACCE members and friends,
We here at JCJC are rocking and rolling on our Entrepreneurship Development. Over the last two months we have:
· Generated the skeleton curriculum for an Associate in Applied Science Degree, a certificate option, and the merger classes for existing career and technical programs within our campus.
· Developed all Entrepreneurship Course Descriptions.
· Met with an existing career and technical advisory committee with the committee voting in the need for an Entrepreneurship Program at JCJC. (This is a step required by the State of Mississippi's Education System.)
· Met with the Jones County Chamber of Commerce on where they can help within the growth of Entrepreneurship at JCJC.
· Met with the Entrepreneurship Advisory Committee to review and provided feedback on the curriculum draft.
In the upcoming months we are also very busy with:
· Presenting the curriculum request to the EPAK committee. (This is committee within our campus that must approve all program and course request.)
· Presenting the curriculum as a pilot program request with Mississippi State University Research and Curriculum Unit.
· Visiting Nebraska for the NETFORCE visit.
Happy Spring,
Finée Ruffin

January 2011 Update
I have advice to anyone planning on major work to happen in January – It’s not happening. Hindsight is 20/20. I had planned for a good deal of activity to take place in January and we have had snow days out of school, ice days out of school, two holidays and then the month was gone. However, I have managed to get some work done on our project on my own and with some internal meetings within the campus community. We have created the "wish list” of our Entrepreneurship Development Committee Members and we are constantly receiving responses from our invitation to be a part of this development.
Meetings I held/attended this month in relation to the grant:
· Director of Grants – process of committee alignment
· Vice President of Advancement – development process update
· Director of the Chamber of Commerce – Community awareness and involvement in the development

Entrepreneurship Beginnings
December 7, 2010
Wow! I am so excited to be a part of growing entrepreneurship in my area and state! The entrepreneurship ride has already started for us here at JCJC. My grant was written to begin January 1, 2011 and run through December 31, 2011, but the groundwork is being laid for the kick-off in January.
The past month has been filled with meetings and discussions of entrepreneurship development. The Coleman Grant Award was announced in our employee newsletter "The Monday Morning News” and since that Faculty on campus have been a buzz of great things to come and how they can help me get it going on campus. I am super excited by the support from my fellow faculty members!
For planning purposes I want to include some of the meetings I have had over the last month preparing for the grant to start in January 2011:
· Dean of the College of Business and Technology
· Grant Office Director
· Vice President of the JCJC Foundation
· Business and Marketing Faculty Round Table
· Jones County Economic Development Authority
