SPEAKER BIO:
Katie Gailes is the Director of Entrepreneurship Initiatives at Wake Technical Community College. Her professional experience includes a long career in corporate America where she focused on business and marketing strategy, and working with startup firms and small businesses. While working with a statewide nonprofit, she counseled displaced workers across the state who wanted to create their own opportunity by starting small businesses. Katie is also an entrepreneur having run her own small consulting practice since 2006. She is a graduate of Bennett College for Women and the Duke University Fuqua School of Business. Katie firmly believes that entrepreneurial thinking and characteristics form the foundation for the life and leadership skills of the future. Her objective is to make a measurable impact on the many aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in Wake County; both inside Wake Tech and in the community. Her current major projects are the Wake Tech/Wells Fargo Center for Entrepreneurship, LaunchRALEIGH, StartUp@WakeTech, and the Wake Tech Council on Entrepreneurship.
