NACCE Opens Nominations for Entrepreneurship Awards

SPRINGFIELD, MA—May 13, 2014 -- The National Association of Community College
Entrepreneurship (NACCE), the nation’s leading organization focused on
promoting entrepreneurship through community colleges, has announced it is now
accepting nominations for the 2014 NACCE Awards, which are recognized as the
standard for excellence in entrepreneurial thinking on community college
campuses. The awards will be presented at NACCE’s annual conference, to be held
in Phoenix, AZ, October 12-15, 2014.

be recognized nationally for their contributions to their local economy,” says
NACCE President and CEO Heather Van Sickle. “The NACCE Awards honor
entrepreneurially-minded college leaders and their students, past and present,
shining a spotlight on the role of the community and technical colleges in
fostering economic vitality through entrepreneurship in their communities.”
About the awards
member colleges are eligible to nominate someone for the awards. Nominations
may be made by administrators, faculty, students and alumni, and individuals can
make more than one nomination in the Student, Alumni and Impact Award
categories. The five categories celebrating commitment to entrepreneurship in
communities and campuses are:
Entrepreneur Award – A new category for 2014, this award recognizes
exceptional entrepreneurial skill and creativity among enterprising students.
Cash prizes and travel stipends to attend NACCE2014 will be given to 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place winners and is sponsored by American Institute for Economic Research
Entrepreneur Award – Three Alumni Entrepreneur winners will receive certificates
for five ed2go Short Courses and a $750 travel stipend to attend NACCE2014.
• Impact Award
– Impact awardees will be featured in the NACCE’s journal, Community College Entrepreneurship and serve as guest columnists.
• Entrepreneurial President
– This award recognizes presidents who have joined NACCE’s Presidents for Entrepreneurship Pledge and have established a
replicable and distinguishable entrepreneurial spirit within their campus
communities. The winner will be featured on the front cover of NACCE’s
College – A new category for 2014, this award recognizes a college for
embracing NACCE’s Presidents for Entrepreneurship Pledge. The winner will
receive a special “Winner” logo/graphic to display on its college website,
stationery and college marketing materials.
