Mason City, IA – Nov. 10, 2008 - North Iowa Area Community College and its John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center will celebrate thinking globally and acting locally during Global Entrepreneurship Week on November 17-21.
“Global Entrepreneurship Week is a wonderful opportunity to recognize those entrepreneurs who have taken the steps and accepted the risks that go along with starting a new business,” Tim Putnam, NIACC JPEC associate director, said. “It's also a nice opportunity to encourage people to look into what being an entrepreneur is all about. They can even give it a try with our NIACC Market Place event where students and faculty, possibly for the first time ever, sell their art, jewelry and other creations.”
This week will inspire and inform people through community-based activities to unleash their ideas. The next generation of entrepreneurs will emerge acquiring the knowledge, skills, networks and values needed to grow innovative, sustainable enterprises with a positive impact on their lives and the lives of those around them.
NIACC JPEC activities will include: Monday: E4D (Entrepreneur for a Day) Program for 5th Grade Students on NIACC Campus Tuesday: Free Entrepreneurs’ Exchange – What is the biz with Iowa BizNet™? – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in McAllister Hall, Room 104G on the NIACC Campus Wednesday: Student and Faculty Marketplace – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Activity Center on the NIACC Campus Thursday: FastTrac® NewVenture™ Graduation
