From Facebook to Your Pocketbook: Learn What You Need to Know About Social Media

Mason City, IA – Jan. 6, 2009 - Web 2.0 describes the phenomenon of social networks, from Facebook to YouTube. These social network users are the new target audience found in the technology marketplace. Join Nathan Wright, owner of Lavarow.com, as he presents a tour through the Web 2.0 marketplace and how you can move customers from Facebook to your pocketbook during the NIACC Entrepreneurs’ Exchange to be held Tuesday, January 20, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the NIACC campus.

From elementary schools to the business world, the global exchange of information through social media happens 24/7 on sites such as Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Wikis and Webkins. Nathan Wright, a social media strategist, advocate and enthusiast, has over 10 years experience in the realm of Web 2.0. Wright will share his expertise in social media, web culture, emerging media, user interface design, branding and digital communications. This presentation is designed for everyone, not just web experts!

Wright considers himself one of the usual suspects when you are searching for information sources about social media. Wright forged his web geekery in the fires of ancient IRC chat rooms and continues today as @nathanwright on Twitter. He will share tips on how small businesses can use these technology connections to their advantage and define the target market they will find in the new Social Media neighborhood.

To insure adequate space and refreshments for everyone, RSVPs for the Entrepreneurs’ Exchange are appreciated. For vendors who market goods or services, a limited number of FREE display tables are available.
