Amy Schulz to Lead NACCE Membership Efforts

SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS -- March 18, 2015 -- The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), the nation’s leading organization focused on promoting entrepreneurship through community colleges, has announced the appointment of Amy Schulz as vice president of Membership.

Prior to joining NACCE, Schulz was director of Career Technical Education & Economic Workforce Development at Feather River College in Quincy, California where she oversaw the "New World of Work Initiative." The program emphasizes 21st century skills and works with educators to design curriculum to teach critical skills through innovative and experiential methods. She also spearheaded FRC’s entrepreneurship program, which included high school entrepreneurship pathways with 10 high schools, cross-curricular entrepreneurship certificates, integration into local economic development efforts, and a business succession-planning pilot. Schulz also served as the director and facilitator of an eight-college consortium addressing the career technical education needs of the Far North Region in California.

"We are delighted to welcome Amy Schulz to NACCE's leadership team," said Rebecca Corbin, president and CEO of NACCE. "As one of NACCE’s Member Ambassadors since the program's inception in 2013, she demonstrated an ability to accurately assess member needs and identify how NACCE can meet them. In the continually evolving world of entrepreneurship education and experiences, she will play a pivotal role in making sure our members are well served and that NACCE continues to lead the discussion among our membership of entrepreneurship educators, administrators and center directors throughout the country."

"I am honored to join the NACCE team," said Schulz. "NACCE has been instrumental in our local entrepreneurship efforts, which has led to the launch of several businesses and a cultural shift for youth and seasoned business owners to be asset-based thinkers. I am eager to work more closely with NACCE members to assist them in reaching their own entrepreneurial goals."

Schulz is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honors Society and has served as an Executive Committee Member of the Business Industry Collaborative. She has been a featured presenter and speaker at numerous business and entrepreneurship forums throughout the United States. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California-Davis, her Master’s of Business Administration from Chapman University in Edinburg, Texas, and her CCAOE CTE & EWD Leadership Academy Certificate from the University of Texas-Pan American in Sacramento, California. She is currently a candidate for her Ph.D. in Organizational Systems from Saybrook University.

About NACCE

The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) is an organization of educators, administrators, presidents and entrepreneurs, focused on inciting entrepreneurship in their community and on their campus. NACCE has two main goals: 1. Empower the college to approach the business of running a community college with an entrepreneurial mindset; and 2. Grow the community college’s role in supporting job creation and entrepreneurs in their local ecosystem.

Founded in 2002, NACCE is at the heart of the "entrepreneurship movement." Through membership, an annual conference and exhibition, regional summits, a quarterly journal, monthly webinars, a dynamic list-serv, and professional development training resources, NACCE serves as the hub for the dissemination and integration of knowledge and successful practices regarding entrepreneurial leadership, entrepreneurship education and student business incubation. These initiatives and resulting actions advance economic prosperity in the communities served by its member colleges. NACCE is a founding member of the White House-led Startup America Partnership.
