The competition was held as part of the statewide Small Business Summit in Sacramento on June 19th which will feature ten locations across the state tied together via high definition videoconference to share a keynote speaker, presentations by faculty entrepreneurship champions, and the business plan pitch finals.  The keynote speaker will be Dr. Randal Pinkett, CEO of BCT Partners, a multimillion-dollar management consulting and information technology solutions firm.  Dr. Pinkett is also author of “Campus CEO: The Student Entrepreneur’s Guide to Launching a Multimillion-Dollar Business,” and winner of season four of NBC’s hit reality show “The Apprentice” with Donald Trump (www.RandalPinkett.com).

“Business plan pitch competitions such as this provide an opportunity for experiential learning and are a great way to infuse or embed entrepreneurship skills into our existing career technical education programs.  I am sure we will see some future entrepreneurial leaders emerge out of this effort,” says Charles Eason, the Small Business Sector Navigator for the California Community Colleges.

Sponsors of the “Get a Taste of Success” Business Plan Pitch Competition include the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) HP Life, Ideator, Thinktomi, Up and Running Video, and Five Star Marketing Community.
