Skills Gap

In this Huffington Post article discussing the President's Free Community College plan, Mayor Greg Fischer of Louisville, Kentucky argues that career-based education programs should prepare students for more technical fields, but instead they are still focused on agricultural based industries. Do you agree or disagree with Fischer's statement?

Fisher has helped lead partnerships between community colleges and companies to increase the amount of apprenticeships, professional development and mentorship opportunities for students in manufacturing and technical fields. Has your mayor or local government helped forge these relationships between local industries and your community college? If yes, how is this helping to lessen the skills gap? If no, what do you think the first step is in accomplishing this goal?
