MUNCIE -- The Muncie community is ready to take the first step to move the city forward in a deliberate and planned way. Thanks to a $50,000 grant awarded to Ivy Tech Community College and the Office of the Mayor from the Ball Brothers Foundation, the City of Muncie Economic Development funds, and the Community Development Office, the City of Muncie will be able to move forward with the Mayor's vision of creating a Comprehensive Master Plan.

The plan will focus on implementing the City’s goals to revitalize neighborhoods by removing slum and blight, rehabilitating housing, and improving structure; reduce poverty by improving access to public services; increase affordable housing opportunities and eliminate and prevent homelessness; and provide a tool to aid in distribution of resources to quality of life issues. Specific needs include job creation, retraining of existing workers, new employee training programs, and enterprise and economic development opportunities in the area. In addition, the plan will further identify infrastructure needs to support new business and enhance existing enterprises.
