Governor Proclaims Nov. 5 as Tim Mittan Day

He thought he was attending just another reception hosted by the incubator tenants in Southeast Community College's Entrepreneurship Center.
What Tim Mittan didn’t know was that he was the star of the show.
Mittan, director of SCC's Entrepreneurship Center in Lincoln, was honored Thursday with a proclamation, signed by Gov. Dave Heineman and Secretary of State John A. Gale, proclaiming Nov. 5, 2009, as Tim Mittan Day.
"Wow. Oh, my gosh. Thank you all very much," said Mittan, nearly rendered speechless by the proclamation.
Steve Maly of Maly Marketing, one of the incubator tenants, came up with the idea to honor Mittan. Maly is a native of Fremont, as is Heineman. He said he got to know the governor and first lady, as well as their son, Sam, years ago growing up in the community. Sally was his elementary school principal and he coached Sam for four years in basketball. Steve’s brother Mark, who was in Sam's wedding recently, contacted Sam on behalf of Steve, and Sam in turn e-mailed his father requesting the proclamation.
