CHICAGO — If Central Arizona College’s Al Larson spent three minutes in an elevator with a snazzily dressed gentleman toting a wad of cash traveling to the upper floors of the Sears Tower, could he exit his ride with a new best friend and a potential investor?

Thanks to Larson, CAC has received a $7,500 Coleman Foundation Elevator Grant to support an entrepreneurship cadre. Larson, the director of business and community outreach at CAC, earned the grant during the seventh annual National Association for Community Colleges Entrepreneurship conference Oct. 11-14 in Chicago.
