Mott Community College (MCC) is holding an open house in celebration of the new FABLAB – the area's first Digital Fabrication Laboratory.
This 1,200-square-foot lab is where MCC says the community can bring their ideas and imaginations and build inventions.
The ceremony announcing the the opening of the FABLAB is set for 10 a.m. Jan. 21. The public is welcome to this free event and the lab will remain open until 6 p.m.
FABLAB is located in Room 1112 in the college's Regional Technology Center, located at 1401 E. Court St., Flint.
Here's what the press release says about this new opening and background on this innovative space:
The MCC FABLAB, a dream-come true for inventors of all ages, is a hands-on laboratory that provides the technology and modern fabrication tools to let people build their own creations and products for personal or commercial use. The FABLAB allows a person to essentially take an idea and discover how to turn it into a physical object. FABLABs are also uniquely designed to allow local communities to foster and support innovation that can lead to sustainable solutions for small businesses.
