The Entrepreneurial Assistance Program at Broome Community College celebrated the graduation of 12 entrepreneurs from the spring 2011 class Monday night.

The graduates have spent the last ten weeks learning all about how to start their own business.

They were provided the tools and advice on how they can grow their business into a successful one and they created their own business plan for post graduation.

Executive Assistant to the Mayor Andrew Block was at the graduation, and said, "Entrepreneurs are the backbone to the economy."

Teachers and mentors of the program hope they have provided all the necessary tools for their students to succeed and to help stimulate the Southern Tier's economy.

"It's really important that we have small businesses because the larger businesses are struggling in this area, so really it's the entrepreneur that we're looking to to help us get more people employed and keep them in the area," said Janet Hertzog, director of the Workforce Development at BCC.
