Entrepreneurial education is alive and well at Sandhills Community College.
If nothing else, the recent passing of legendary Apple Computer CEO
Steve Jobs reinforced in the minds and hearts of Americans the
entrepreneurial gusto we have collectively laid claim to for the last
century and a half. He leaves behind one of the most valuable companies
in the world, according to Marilyn Neely, director of the Small Business
Center at SCC.
Jobs’ life is a celebration of entrepreneurship — as it is valued and
taught at Sandhills Community College, where individuals share ideas
and aspirations for success in the competitive world of business.
"Steve Jobs was a true entrepreneur,” Neely says. "He was driven — and he had real passion.”
SCC business instructor Fletcher Meyers adds, "He was relentless,
driven, a true visionary. He was brilliant, certainly an entrepreneur by
most definitions of the word.”
These two should know. Neely oversees an oasis of business expertise,
where anyone in the community can get real answers to everyday business
challenges. In addition to his teaching duties, Meyers is the faculty
adviser to the Sandhills Entrepre-neurship Club and a faculty
representative of the Sandhills Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
Between the faculty, college staff and community stakeholders,
Sandhills continues to be a springboard to entrepreneurial excellence. Learn how Sandhills Community college promotes entrepreneurship
