Dr. Joe Forrester, Community College of Beaver County President,
joins a select group of colleagues as part of National Association for
Community College Entrepreneurship’s (NACCE) Presidents for
Entrepreneurship Forum.
NACCE serves as "the hub for the dissemination and integration
of knowledge and successful practices regarding entrepreneurship
education and student business incubation.” NACCE helps community
colleges link their workforce development programs with entrepreneurial
development in the form of innovative programs and courses. In December,
the White House hosted the first board meeting of the Startup America
Partnership where NACCE, along with other organizations, became a
committed partner in the Obama Administration’s prosed $2 billion in
resources being dedicated to support startups.
Realizing the importance of entrepreneurship, the College
began to focus on providing the community with the education and tools
needed to keep businesses local and help the surrounding areas regain
their value. Summer Biz Camp, sponsored by the College in a partnership
with Entrepreneuring Youth (E Youth) and the Franklin Center of Beaver
County, started in the summer of 2009 with the goals of introducing
local youth to the thrill of entrepreneurship and providing them with
the tools needed to create a business.
