Most businesses in America begin with one person and an idea.
This
basic tenet of entrepreneurialism was on display Wednesday during
Illinois Valley Community College’s 17th annual Making Industry
Meaningful In College fair.
"Many mistakenly think it’s the big
guy or big corporations that are only entrepreneurial,” MIMIC faculty
adviser Dorene Perez said. "It’s the little guy with an idea that gets
business started.”
The MIMIC fair is an award-winning program
that places students from business, marketing, electronics and
computer-aided design into teams called "companies.” Their task is to
create a product, design it, make a prototype, manufacture the product
and then put it out to market at the fair.
