J. Allen Hurley, II, Former Chairman, CEO and founder of Touchstone Wireless has been one of the industry pioneer’s in the reverse logistics, recycling, repair and insurance sectors of the wireless industry for over 26 years. Mr. Hurley is an Entrepreneur with a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Northeast State Community College. He started a wireless phone repair company out of a neighbor's garage, and grew the business to a nearly a quarter billion in annual sales with 2,700 employees; including four facilities across the United States and Puerto Rico. The company was on the leading edge, pioneering innovation in the fastest growing consumer electronic industry in history and provided services to companies such as: T mobile, Alltel, Verizon, Samsung, LG, Motorola and others. Touchstone Wireless obtained 14 OEM level 3 repair certifications, a first in the Wireless Industry, and a sophisticated document control/training program that surpassed the most stringent requirements required in the industry.
Touchstone Wireless was named one of Fortune Magazine’s 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies, and received the ACG Emerging Corporate Growth Award along with multiple supplier of the year awards. Mr. Hurley lead the company through multiple merger and acquisitions including the purchase of a Texas based company in 2004, a merger in 2005 and the sale of Touchstone Wireless to a Fortune 500 Company in 2010.
Currently, Mr. Hurley owns nine businesses that include ownership in technology based companies Progistics and Flextech Solutions, which provide reverse logistics services to wireless and consumer electronic industries. Mr. Hurley’s other companies include but are not limited to: a successful real estate firm which manages his 300,000 square feet of commercial properties; a preowned automotive business; corporate and personal event venues; and campgrounds among others.
He is very involved in his community and has been recognized via multiple awards; The Tennessee Chancellors Award for Excellence in Philanthropy, Historical Heritage Alliance Award for Adaptive Reuse, Republican National Leadership Award, the President’s Award and Outstanding Alumni Award, recognized by Tri Cities Business Journal as one of the top 100 people to know in the Tri Cities, along with several other awards and recognitions. Mr. Hurley serves on a plethora of boards across the region, and serves as the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Investment Committee for Northeast State Community College Foundation. Mr. Hurley enjoys the outdoors, spending time with his family and coaching his two children in basketball, softball, archery and shotgun.
