Are you considering opening up a FabLab or Maker Space? Do you want to see new ways to utilize excess space and how manufacturing and tinkering intersect with entrepreneurship? Join us on the Houston Maker Space tour where we will explore two venues and learn about their different approach to making.
Houston Makerspace is a 21,000 square foot warehouse where creatives gather. Thoughts and concepts are fabricated, tested, incubated and developed into highly valued works of genius. The space is comprised of six workshops: Wood, Metal, Rapid Prototyping, Print, Ceramics, Jewelry, and Textiles, as well as multiple community areas, such as the Classroom, Conference Room, Photography Studio, Community Garden, and Kitchenette.
TX/RX is a non-profit Hackerspace in Houston, Texas offering
classes, lab space, and collective knowledge to help launch ideas and projects.
The 30,000 square foot facility includes a rapid fabrication lab, electronics
lab, metal fabrication shop, wood workshop, machine shop, bike maintenance and
repair shop, art lab, computer lab and co-working space. TX/RX goals are to bring
creative people together, to serve as an incubator for imaginative solutions
for everyday problems, to make opaque scientific and technical concepts
accessible to everyone through education, and to provide much needed services
to the community, made possible by the skills and passion of their membership. Light refreshments will be available.
