NACCE 2013 Preconference Information

Pre-Conference Workshops

Morning Session: Sunday, October 13th, 9:00AM to 12:00PM
Marketing Through Your Marketing Department, No Really: Create Buzz And Broad Exposure Of Your College’s Commitment To Entrepreneurship

When it comes to sharing good news regarding your students, faculty, and administrators, do you feel boxed in by your college’s marketing and public relationships department? As entrepreneurial thinkers, you are resourceful in getting your message out. You send emails, Eventbrites, tweets and posts to ensure you are reaching your audience. While this solves a problem, it may put you at odds with internal stakeholders or decision makers when it comes to pushing marketing out to the public. This interactive session will provide you with tools to market your programs effectively to internal and external stakeholders by leveraging the internal college’s marketing and public relations departments.

Hot Dog Carts, College T-shirts And Marketing Services: How To Start Student-Run Microenterprises

Student entrepreneurs learn by doing. They are creating a wide range of student businesses that generate revenue from retail stores to legal services. Some campuses love their entrepreneurial initiatives. Others have repossessed their equipment. Join us and learn a framework for different models of student businesses, examples of success on campus as well as how to overcome the obvious obstacles. Your hot dog cart does not have to compete with food services.

Herding Cats: Creating Or Expanding Your Internal Team Dedicated To Entrepreneurship On Campus

Your program produces amazing startups, brings in entrepreneurs from around the state and converts kitchen grease into diesel fuel. Yet still you cannot get the attention of your president, have the PR department send out a press release on your pitch plan or get the engineering department to mentor your students. Attend this interactive session to define what is really going on at your campus, name key stakeholders and their WIIFM, create shared vision. We know it is not easy so we will also flag hidden agendas and address common obstacles.
