This 4-Part Professional Development Series meets November 4th, 6th, 10th and 12th from 1-3PM EST. 

Overview:

Part 1-November 4th

  • Understanding the Generations – Explore how the technology of our youth shapes generational traits and behaviors, and gain insights to improve communication and collaboration across age groups.

  • The Power of Mindset – Discover how to identify and shift negative thinking, cultivate a positive outlook, and understand why a growth-oriented mindset attracts stronger personal and professional connections.

Part 2-November 6th

  • Active Listening – Explore why true listening goes beyond simply hearing, and learn practical guidelines to strengthen communication and leadership skills in any group setting.
  • Building Your Community – Discover the science of belonging and how to foster meaningful connections that bring people together for a shared purpose.

Part 3-November 10th

  • Team Building – Discover the critical steps and preparation needed to form a strong, unified team that can achieve its goals effectively.

  • Setting Boundaries – Learn what healthy boundaries look like, why they’re essential, and how to set them to protect relationships and promote effective collaboration.

Part 4-November 12th

  • Organizational Culture – Learn how to define and reinforce shared goals and values, and create a growth mindset culture that keeps teams aligned and motivated.

  • Customer Experience – Explore stakeholder perspectives, clarify expectations, and develop strategies for handling dissatisfied customers or partners with professionalism and care.

All attendees will recieve a Credly Badge for completing the series.

Carrie Root, Ph.D., HKN, Founder and CEO of Alpha UMi, spent over two decades as a high-level trouble shooter in the DoD sector. Today, she is bringing innovative professional development curricula to tomorrow’s workforce. She is committed to providing the opportunity for human skill development to all who desire it. Her company, Alpha UMi, develops and delivers relevant, engaging, and transformative learning experiences in topics such as leading without authority, generational intelligence, leadership, emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication.

Dr. Root was recognized as a Commander's National Award Winner for Science and Technology. Her work bringing leadership training to IEEE’s Women in Engineering as well as to engineering students resulted in an invitation to join HKE, IEEE’s honor society. She is an engaging speaker and recently published “The Other Soft Skill: How to Solve Workplace Challenges with Generational Intelligence.” She has been interviewed, has articles and a podcast on topics related to ageism, generations in the workplace, and other topics related to interpersonal relationships at work.
