INTUIT AND NACCE LAUNCH NEW DESIGN INNOVATOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

NACCE Blog,

Raleigh, NC (October 14, 2020) - The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) and Intuit, maker of TurboTax, QuickBooks and Mint, are pleased to announce the launch of the Intuit Design Thinking Innovator Badge, as part of the NACCE Fall 2020 Conference.

This new certification program has been developed by NACCE and Intuit to equip educators with the skills and resources needed to instruct their students on how to creatively solve real-world problems and lead with an innovative mindset using design thinking principles. The development of an entrepreneurial mindset and critical 21st century skills through design thinking methodology helps to better prepare students for the jobs of the future.

“Design thinking enables game-changing innovation through methods and models that harness the power of empathy, creativity, and experimentation. We’re proud to offer educators with a program that helps level the playing field for any student aspiring to build solutions far beyond the parameters of traditional problem solving,” said Nico Valencia, Senior Manager, Education, Intuit.

Educators who earn the Intuit Design Thinking Innovator badge will have displayed competency in creative thinking, innovative problem solving, empathy, ideation, and applying rapid experimentation to test solutions. By summer 2021, over 100 educators within the NACCE community are anticipated to have gone through the in-depth certification program.

Once complete, the certification will enable teachers to challenge their students to learn how to create innovative solutions that tackle difficult real-world problems by applying the three pillars of Design for Delight - Intuit’s design thinking process.

“NACCE is thrilled to expand this partnership with Intuit and have our members trained in the Design for Delight (D4D) methodology. We look forward to growing and improving our organization’s empathy, creativity and experimentation,” said Rebecca Corbin, NACCE president & CEO.

As a part of the ongoing partnership with NACCE, Intuit has developed professional development training and educator resources to support the integration of design thinking methodology into student learning experiences over the course of the 2020-2021 school year.
