Webinar Details:

There have never been more people interested in entrepreneurship than there are today.

However, it is a minority of students and community members who are chasing our traditional definition of entrepreneurship (startups, or small businesses).

The Side Hustlers are here.

There are entrepreneurs who are hidden across your campus and your community who don’t identify as Founders, or Small Business Owners.
Because entrepreneurial identity is not binary. It is a spectrum.

Today, entrepreneurs take many forms:
They are skilled-trades people and talented artists.
They are solopreneurs and content creators.
They are freelancer service providers and home-based makers.

While they are dynamic and varied in their approaches, the people starting businesses across campuses and communities share one thing in common: at the outset of the journey, everyone is a side hustler.

Programs for side hustlers create a more accessible entry-way into your existing entrepreneurship ecosystem, while putting participants in the position to make real money, create a real impact, and build real skills.

Since the fall of 2021, Lane Two Learning Inc. has supported over 2500 people to start and grow side hustles by partnering with entrepreneurship support organizations across Canada and the United States to deliver their flag ship Side Hustle Programs.

In this presentation, Jeff Mitchell, the co-owner of Lane Two and the creator the their flagship side hustle programs, will share insights, teaching methodologies, and frameworks for delivering Side Hustle Programs on your campus, while helping you to position side hustling as "top of funnel" programming within your entrepreneurship center / small business center.

This hands-on session will feature a case study to highlight the methodologies and outcomes that Lane Two's Side Hustle Programs have produced (including 1 campus with over 180 side hustlers supported - those side hustlers have now generated over $300,000.00 in revenue). The session will also provide insights about external funding opportunities that are available to support you to add programming for side hustlers to your existing entrepreneurship ecosystem. Attendees will leave with concrete materials they can adapt for their own institution, along with a clear understanding of how to sequence implementation for their context.

About the Speaker:

Jeff Mitchell - Side Hustler, Entrepreneurship Educator, Bionic Entrepreneur, Digital Nomad.

A former English teacher, Jeff has enjoyed a winding entrepreneurial pathway since diving into the world of side hustling and entrepreneurship in 2012. Early in his journey, he founded an education technology company at the Accelerator Centre in Waterloo, Ontario, then ran corporate innovation and startup programming at various Canadian Innovation Centres. In 2016, he designed an innovative course that upskilled underemployed graduates in ecommerce and digital marketing by pairing them with local small businesses to support their digital transformation through hands-on learning. He led the formation of a partnership with Shopify, Hubspot, and Wilfrid Laurier University, and raised a total of 1.4 million dollars to fund a two year pilot for this program. Since then, he has carved out a niche as a freelance curriculum developer, course creator, coach and consultant.

Today, Jeff has a portfolio of work that includes being the co-owner of Lane Two Learning Inc., where he helps grassroots entrepreneurs to transform their lives through side hustling, while supporting existing business owners to transform their business using AI to become Bionic Entrepreneurs. Jeff is a North American leader in Side Hustle training, having personally supported over 2500 people to start and grow revenue generating side hustles since 2021. Jeff’s portfolio of work also includes supporting large organizations to test and grow new lines of revenue - he has worked with Canon Canada Inc. to develop and launch over 10 online classes. He also engages in freelance coaching with leadership teams, and travels across Canada as a speaker at various entrepreneurship and future of work events.

Based out of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Jeff runs Lane Two with his wife, Laura. They are a micro-team who have evolved into Bionic Entrepreneurs. By blending human and machine intelligence, they are transforming Lane Two’s business model, while re-imagining what it means to be an entrepreneur in this new, Postmodern Era of Entrepreneurship.

Jeff and Laura are digital nomads who spend 60-90 days per year living and working across Canada and internationally.
