Professional Bio
Joy Profet is an accomplished business woman, philanthropist, board member and devoted wife and mother. Joy will be joining Kind Capital, LLC in June 2020 as Chief Operating Officer, which supports clients by creating systemic, integrated solutions that catalyze scalable, sustainable impact. Her principal area of focus will be working with entrepreneurs and investors of early-stage growth companies to help them define and deliver their strategic, impact and financial goals.
Joy has been Chief Operating Officer of Essence Communications, Inc. since July 2018 with responsibility for the brand’s strategic, operational, financial and administrative functions. As Chief Operating Officer, Joy also partners with the leadership team to design and execute Essence’s consumer marketing goals across all platforms and has direct management of the experiential and virtual business. Joy also works with the parent company, ESSENCE Ventures, to support cross-portfolio collaborations with entrepreneurs in the New Voices Fund and family office. Prior to that, Joy was General Manager of Essence Communications, Inc.
Before joining Essence, Joy was Vice President of Business Development for NBC Universal, one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information to a global audience. At NBC Universal’s Business Development group, Joy focused on providing acquisition recommendations, negotiations, structuring and deal-execution primarily for the station distribution, content and filmed entertainment divisions. In addition, she led the organic and acquisitive growth strategy for NBC Universal’s entry into the $17 billion children’s content business and has sought to secure distribution, programming and partnering relationships for NBC Universal in this market.
