Call for Presentations for make/SHIFT 2.0 Now Open

NACCE Blog,
The call for presentations for make/SHIFT 2.0 is now open!
Deadline for submitting proposals is Friday, January 31, 2020.

NACCE is a strong community of entrepreneurial leaders, practitioners...and makers! We share best practices and epic fails so that we can learn from each other. We come together to share innovative ideas and solutions to existing problems. We are asking our members to share their best practices in the following conference tracks:
  • Track A: Makerspace -- the models, curriculum and student impact driving community college innovation.
  • Track B: Entrepreneurship -- the mindset, education, and social significance inspiring communities.
  •  Track C: Impact -- sustainable ecosystems and campus culture preparing the next generation for innovation careers.
Selection Criteria:

Your proposal will be reviewed by peers and the NACCE staff with the following criteria:

  • Appropriateness of the topic to the conference theme or identified track
  • Clarity of title, description and presentation outline
  • Session format – Multiple presenters required (2-4 speakers = ideal)
  • Description of learning outcomes expected from the session
  • Engagement of participants in active learning opportunities (You MUST include an activity.)
  • Originality of the topic or distinction of perspective
  • Submissions judged by NACCE Program Committee reviewers to be simply advertisements for products or services or overly promotional in nature will not be accepted.
Presenter Requirements:
  • Must be a NACCE member. Not sure you're a member? Call 413.306.3131.
  • Presenters must have demonstrated expertise in their subject area and be prepared to teach and challenge conference attendees.
  • Bring a laptop to the session. NACCE will not provide laptops.
  • All presenters must register for make/SHIFT 2.0 by February 28. All accepted presenters will be given a $50 dollar discount.
Session Requirements:
  • Sessions should be dynamic, interactive, and action-oriented. We want all participants to leave with the confidence to transform newly acquired knowledge into action and take part in a stronger, larger network of like-minded colleagues.
  • All sessions must have an interactive activity to engage the audience.
  • All sessions should tell the “local” story, but it is critical to extract lessons learned so attendees leave each presentation knowing how to apply what they’ve heard and have the building blocks to make things happen. By breaking your content into a “how to” format, you can help attendees acquire knowledge that is immediately actionable.

In preparation, here are the following components that make up each session:

  • Title of Your Presentation: Up to 10 words that accurately describe your session.
  • Presentation Description: Up to 250 word overview and outline of your session that explains in more detail the depth and breadth of your presentation. This information is a required element to ensure that your session is well understood by the reviewers.
  • Three Key Takeaways: Three anticipated learning objectives for participants.

Please note the following before submitting the form below:

  • All submissions must be made online via the form (link listed below).
  • Notification concerning your proposal will occur in mid-February 2020.
  • Session presenters must register to attend the NACCE Conference by February 28, 2020.
  • It will not be possible to guarantee a particular day and time for any presentation.

  • Each organization may submit up to two proposals. NACCE reserves the right to balance the number of sessions submitted by any given individual, company or organization. NACCE also reserves the right to edit session titles and abstracts for marketing purposes.
